Quick trip to Branson/SDC

My parents got us season passes to Silver Dollar City for Christmas. We hadn't been yet.  This weekend worked for them and Jeff was going to be gone on Friday and half of Saturday so we went!
Smiles in the beginning, seconds later, tears. Creighton got a spanking before we even made it into the park.  But after that she was GREAT.  She just needed an attitude adjustment.  That's why she's absent from the picture below.
 Sweet babies!
Creighton isn't much of an amusement park ride girl.  She cried on nearly every ride we went on except the ones with Charleigh in the little little kid area.
Charleigh's first ride at SDC....she liked it. I couldn't tell that I cut her head in half until after it was too late.
I had to ride with her and those rides were NOT made for adults :/ but I am glad my girls had fun!  I love this fun picture!
This one Charleigh couldn't ride (and parents couldn't either, which is why she couldn't) and she was M.A.D. about it!
This is where we spent a lot of time.  All 3 kids LOVE this area where they can get wet and play with balls and throw them and not get in trouble.  She was in heaven.  Swimsuits and watersandals were a homerun choice my yours truly!
 Charleigh even loved it!!
Jackson as well! :)

Thanks Mom and Dad for a short and crazy, but FUN weekend in Branson.

Random pictures of the kids

Charleigh in her stylin' suit and glasses...flashing that sweet smile! LOVE IT
Making Daddy a "welcome home" art surprise....we missed him terribly!
 the final project!
Rae! You are so beautiful and incredibly talented at art and writing!

 We love our Gator!
Rae, you dressed yourself.  You wanted to look nice because Eli was coming over ;) Thankfully somehow you pull off even the craziest of concoctions.
Crazy hair and gorgeous eyes.  I love that cheeseball smile of yours

My friend Sharla came over and Creighton couldn't get enough of holding Amelia! :) So sweet (even though Amelia didn't like Creighton holding her as much as Creighton did!)
This is Charleigh's fave spot!  She loves to climb up there and just sit.  She'll sit there and watch and smile for a long time...especially for a one year old!

My project RESTORATION

I can't take complete credit for ruining, nor restoring this heirloom table. Unfortunately, since it was given to us, we destroyed it essentially.  This is a random picture I found of it from a long time ago. Even since this picture it looked MUCH worse.
My friend Amy told me she loves to woodwork.  She loves to refinish wood and wanted to help me (one of the first things she said when she came in my house, that's HOW BAD the table was).  So she came over and helped me sand it down.  She showed me the ropes! :) It was a ton of fun.
Then she helped show me how to stain it.  And I did it at least 5 times.
It got to this gorgeous color and I then sealed it with 3 coats knowing the damage that was done to it originally I knew it needed lots. It could stand some sailboat sealer to withstand our family, but 3 coats of polyurethane will have to do! :)

I need to snap a picture of it in our new kitchen. It looks beautiful! It so far has withstood all of the abuse the poor table goes through.  I love it.  It's so shiny and looks brand new!

Reminds me of what Christ can do in our lives when we go through the process, sometimes long, tedious, painful, but in the end, it's NEW. Completely new and gorgeous!  :)  Another fun lesson learned while doing this project...
we have 2 or 3 leafs that go to the table that I didn't do and also the legs I didn't do.  Part of our walks with Christ is growing.  But in that, we grow in areas, and we don't have to look perfect in every area right away. It takes time.  I got the big part done. I still have little things to redo, refinish, catch up on.  So it was nice to remember that God works on us in pieces sometimes too. :) (and thankfully)

(and another as I was typing that I thought of)
Even though I made it new, I still have to take good care of it.  Tonight I almost cried because the kids' cups were sweating and left on the table for a long time.  I came and took them off and saw the rings underneath. It made me so sad.  However, I wiped them down and then cleaned the table off and dried it really well. The rings were gone in a few minutes...and completely not visible anymore.  Christ's blood does what the polyurethane does for my table. If you have the Right coat on, even when you mess up what has been "fixed" you can still be covered and compete, but it does take effort and work on our parts to "keep up" (study, read, pray, fellowship, worship) what has been done already!

He is so good. I love it when He speaks to me through small insignificant things......LOVE IT!

Some pics of the new house...

One day while Jeff was gone I had company coming and so I cleaned the house (well at least had it picked up). I remember to snag a few pictures.  BUt I didn't get many.
This is the girls' room.  It's pink (it came that color).
It's a good sized room and the furniture fits perfectly. :)

 THis is the guest bathroom.
This is the master aka "my cave". I love it because it has NO windows and so it's uber dark at night!!!! YEAH!
Here is our bathroom, which is in our room (and has a window---for all you safety nuts :))

We still have some major decorating (picture hanging, furniture arranging, clothes hanging, closet organizing, MAJOR garage sale, etc to do before it's all put together. I will post more pictures as I remember to take them and when the house is clean. WHen those two things happen together again, it might be awhile.... :)

Poor Baby

Charleigh had a fight with the tile floor (specifically the edge where it meets the wood) and the floor definitely won.  It was SO sad.  She cried for awhile but mostly because I was trying to put ice on it.  I think had I just stopped trying she wouldn't have cried nearly as long. She's SO tough!

 This was the next morning...
and then later that morning nearly swollen shut. Thankfully the swelling went down dramatically by the end of the day and the colors of the rainbow started appearing.  I knew it meant it was healing, but it made it look even worse. I thought I had a new picture of it today because it is now in the classic "black eye" stage.  No swelling, just pretty purple underneath.  The scratches on the side are healing great and the major scabbing is over.

I just felt terrible for her.  She looked miserable, but really I don't think it affected her too much.  She couldn't see herself and I think that helped. She never really messed with it too much either.

She's one tough cookie!

Haiti!

(all of these pics are from our first trip to Haiti: April 2003)
Waaaaay back in 2003, when I met my sweet man at the Kanakuk Institute, we went on my first overseas mission trip.  We left in April and arrived in Port Au Prince, Haiti.  We were there for about 10 days and spent all of them at an orphanage both loving on the orphans and helping to build onto the kitchen there.  At the time Jeff and I were engaged to be married in August.  Our hearts were united to one another, to God, and after that trip we had strong heart for the Haitian people, and most definitely the orphan.
So, way back in 2003, the Lord planted a seed.
Fast-forward 7 years.  Last year, we were content in Bartlesville, OK serving Grace Community Church and the youth there.  In our content-ness came much conviction! We had a heart for these people and we felt called to be serving Haiti in some way.  We had no idea what it looked like, but we knew the Lord wanted us to also change the way we lived.  We realized it was in direct correlation with how He had lead our hearts.  If we changed our lifestyle and began living simply (or more simply) then we would be able to free up some of our finances to serve more: others in our community, and also our sweet Haitians.  So around this time, we decided to change our lifestyle and also were trying to see how we could get to Haiti and what that looked like.
We had ideas everywhere from going on a short-term mission trip to packing up everything we owned and moving our family there forever.  We were really wanting to hit somewhere in the middle of those options and take the whole family for about 2 months—a long sabbatical from work would be required for Jeff to make this happen.  As we were talking and praying through these things with the Lord, is also about the time when out of nowhere we got the phone call from New Beginnings.
So as we were preparing our hearts to leave Bartlesville for a short time, God had really began to prepare our hearts, without even knowing it, for long-term.  You can read the more detailed story about our leaving Grace and accepting a job at NBC here.  When we accepted the job here in Bixby, we were excited to see how the Lord was going to work out what he had already called us to.  We definitely felt the calling for both Bixby and Haiti.  We learned of the strong encouragement for mission work at NBC (Mexico, Africa, India, and now Joplin are some of the locations this year). We were encouraged to make the plans and lead a trip with NBC, however we really felt we needed to be able to serve without leading a trip, at least the first time back to Haiti.
We knew the Lord had called us to Haiti and we wanted to stand up to our end of making it happen this year (that was our commitment).  So we began seeking out different avenues for a short-term mission trip (starting a new job and asking for 2 months off, doesn’t really work J) for either Jeff and I or our whole family.  Because of the earthquake in Haiti, things have definitely changed, and as we talked with more people and did more research we felt it would be best to go as a couple and not our whole family, for now.
The Church at Battle Creek, a Tulsa area church who also has a huge missions ministry, had planned for 5 trips to Haiti in 7 months.  When I contacted the guy he was already on trip 2, and when he arrived back we spoke about the possibility of Jeff and I joining.  There were two spots available on trip #4 (June 27-July 3) AND that was the trip going to do children’s ministry/VBS/Orphan care.  How cool is that (that was our specific prayer request to serve orphans)?  So it has all happened very fast!
When we came to the first meeting, our leader was leaving 3 days later for trip #3.  Now, we are exactly 2 weeks out from our departure day!  Jeff and I have become human pincushions (we each had to get 6 shots!) and have many of the necessary items needed for us to go (Malaria pills, bug nets, etc.).
One of the most important things about this trip for us was to sacrifice things in our lives to cover the cost of our trip.  However, we would love to ask for your prayers first and foremost!!
Secondly, because we are going to be doing children’s ministry/orphan care, there are things we would love to have donated so you could be a part of what we get the privilege of doing… making these sweet, but unbelievably poor, children feel loved, cared for, and special.  Thankfully smiles and hugs are free, and for one whole week we will be passing those out non-stop!  But, we want to be able to take fun things for these children to play with that we can leave behind, until we are able to come again (Lord willing…with you!) :)
We have a family that has donated some salvation necklaces/bracelets already.  That was one of the main things we needed.    Some of the things that we were asked to consider bringing: Frisbees, deflated soccer balls, bubbles, paddleballs, jump ropes, sunglasses, and anything else that can be given out to LOTS of children.

But, even if you can’t donate any items (or monies towards them) we certainly covet your prayers, both for our safety and also the ministry that will be done, as well as, for these sweet people we will be loving on who are the poorest of the poor. We hope to share the love of Christ, the message of Christ, and that these people who live without hope, will know Hope, will know Love, will know Him!
We are so thrilled that the Lord has provided us this opportunity to go and serve and love in Haiti.  Our plan is to go back to Haiti each year and begin to take our own children, and lead groups of other adults and youth as well!  There is much need there!  We can’t wait to go this year.  Will you serve alongside us with prayer, and then also if you can with donations for the items needed? Thank you in advance!!

I've been just a little busy...

For the first few days of living in our house we didn't have internet or the computer even set up, so that was a viable excuse for not blogging.  But since, we've gotten all of that taken care of and set up...and I haven't had a moment to blog, really.

Jeff has had super busy and long days at work, the kids are out of school and no mother's day out, so I've been a very busy mommy and moving in and unpacking pretty much single-handedly since the actually weekend that we had help.

I've been exhausted.  Seriously seriously exhausted.

This weekend, happens to be the weekend before my hubby leaves for a week for Falls Creek, Jeff let me have "off!"  I am so thrilled.  It's such a fun fun fun fun thing to do.  I am very blessed to be able to do it.  And priceline helps a lot in making it cheap enough to be affordable for me to get a hotel ALL TO MYSELF! YAY...

So, I can't post pics, but thought I'd at least drop a line or two.  We are coming out from under the boxes! That is great news. I got a lot done last night because the bug man was suppose to come today (he didn't :( ) but atleast it was a great excuse for me to bust it to get stuff put away.  Our bathroom is complete. The guest bath is almost complete (just needs one bar hung).  The kids' rooms are pretty close (just no pics up yet).  Our bedroom is good, but our closets are disasterous.  Can't decide when I am going to tackle that project (or ever).

The living room is getting close, the kitchen is great, the guest room/office is coming together but still have lots of stuff everywhere.  The sunroom looks good (because that's what I worked my tail off on last night, but in all actuality there is MUCH left to be done in there....it's just all hidden).  The garage looks horrid!  But that's what garages are for. Really most of it is garage sale stuff anyway....so we just need to have one of those SOON.

So, needless nonsense you now all know about the progress of our house. Pics to come soon.  But I'd like to get it a little more put together first :)

Off to enjoy my weekend!

HIS Rae Rae

Tonight in the car Creighton and I had some sweet conversations, even over Charleigh screaming her head off.

She said at one point, "so when you die, do I have to take care of her {meaning Charleigh}"
I said well I don't know when I am going to die, but yes, you should always care about your sister honey.  She said, "Good, I've always wanted to be a mommy!"

I love that!

I told her she'd be a good mommy.  She ask (while laughing), "Will I have to spank their hineys (we don't use that word, so maybe that's what was so funny)...and then we got to have a sweet conversation about discipline and how God disciplines me and that yes, I still make bad choices and disobey sometimes too.  She was kinda weirded out by that thought.  She though God spanked me.  It was hilarious.  I told her, that I sometimes wish that WAS all my discipline was, because it would hurt a lot less.  And that is why I want her (and her siblings) to learn NOW what it means to obey and to try everyday to obey and make good choices so she didn't have to learn as many lessons at 31 as I do.

I love her heart.  She's so pure and innocent still.

Except, I might have to just follow that statement up with tonight she told me she kissed a boy at church.  I tried not to flip out, because she was holding hands with this SUPER DUPER CUTE boy at the park just on Tuesday and I could tell she acted different than ever before with him.....

...and so it begins.

She's still innocent and pure and I hope she remains that way for a LONG LONG LONG time....Oh Lord, please.  Please. Please. Guide her heart to you.  Allow her to hear your voice. Fill her void in a way that only you can, and help her not to try to fill it with anyone or anything else.  Thank you for my precious Creighton...YOUR precious Rae Rae.

We own a home!

Today we signed our life away :)

I absolutely LOVE our new house. It's perfect.

I went to clean by myself tonight and I felt very led to just pray at first before I started. Then I felt that once I started I wanted to pray over every room. And so I did.  It was quite the emotional experience. I am sure some people do this every time they move and maybe everyday, but I am a Prayer Warrior in TRAINING for sure...and so it was a huge step for me.  I prayed in many different ways and very specifically for each room and the people(s) that would be in, around, beside it.  It was neat. By far one of the coolest experiences so far in Bixby!

Then I got to cleaning and I didn't get nearly as much as I wanted done but I was thankful for what I did get to do. We even had our first visitor at the new house tonight. We love drop-ins! It was fun.  I heart relationships!  My soul is thirsty for genuine Godly women to pour into me as I pour out.  I am thrilled to be in Bixby and get started and I truly feel at HOME.  It's been awhile since I could say that, and even though I can't spend the night in my new house yet, it's calling me....it's home.  (temporary till heaven anyway).

One tidbit that was cool while I was cleaning all the windows.  (the sun room had 7 VERY large single pane windows)  I started windexing the insides first.  I had anticipated also cleaning the outsides, because truth be told, it'll be probably the ONLY time in the history of our living there that it'll get done :)  (I really wish I could say I was kidding, but I am NOT Susie Homemaker).  Anyway, funny thing, when you spend time with the Lord and have a right perspective and are open to hearing, he'll speak to you through all kinds of things....like cleaning a window.

To the story...sorry.  Anyway, so I was cleaning the windows from the inside and noticed how, once I cleaned them I noticed just HOW dirty the outside was.  The Lord just showed me that sometimes we try very hard to clean (maintain) the outside of our lives that people see, but really it's the inside that needs the work first.  Once the inside was right, then I could really see where I needed to focus on the outside, in order to make it look like the inside.

I got to thinking that I could have done it in reverse order and maybe had the opposite analogy, but then He said, "no, because it's only when you have a clean heart (inside), and have the SUN (Son) shining IN that you can see the blemishes on the outside"  If you were clean on the outside, but not the inside, you'd have to be in the way of the sun (Son) in order to think it was clean on both sides....

Random, never know if it comes out in writing like it sounds in my head (gets through to my heart) but I am so thankful that the Lord speaks, and that occasionally I hear. :)

I love our new home and would love to show you around (aka...have your help moving in Thurs or Friday) :)

End of the Year

All three kids went for about the last 5 weeks or so to New Beginnings MDO program.  The last day of classes was last Tuesday and they had a great program to show some things they'd learned.  I was just learning to use the iPhone as a camera/video and so I didn't get nearly as quality of pics as I was hoping and thought I was recording when I wasn't and was when I shouldn't have been...but all in all there are cute videos (which I can't put on my blog) and only a few cute pics...
The older classes all sung a few Spanish songs in the very beginning together.  Jackson was a few people over from Creighton.
She looked so cute and I hate that this one was fuzzy...but it was the only one I got of her sweet smile
 and this one...
I didn't get any pictures of Jackson's class up singing but I have a lot of video. They did a very good job and it was great.  After they sang they did a little "graduation" for the Pre-K kiddos.  He was called up first.
Rarely see him so serious :)
There's my sweet smile! So proud of you buddy! :) I can't believe you are officially now in "real" school from now on.  It's weird buddy.  You weren't suppose to grow up so fast! I love you with everything in me and I am so proud of you.  You've come a long way and you have a long way to go, but you've proven you will work hard!

You said you wanted to be an Astronaut this time...so much better than when you graduated your 3's pre-k class and wanted to be a Taco Bueno drive through guy! :)  But if you do become either of those extremes or anything in between, I'll still be proud of you!

Catalyst

I spent Wednesday through Saturday with these people and about 3000+ others at Catalyst Dallas 2011.  It was an incredible time of growth and healing for me on nearly a million levels.  I can't wait to get my thoughts written out.  It will probably be a while before/if I post them...but let's just say I am more than grateful for the opportunity to have been there, and more excited that my prayers that God would show up and do big things were answered in that exact way and then some.

Friends, new and old.  Hearing the Word just BROUGHT!  Praise and worship like nobody was there but me and my Savior.  Healing. Laughing.   It was a priceless weekend.

Fun Zoo Pics

same train, same sweet girl, so much time and so many memories in between

(this was around March 2008)
