Charleigh is a walking machine now and goes almost everywhere on 2 instead of 4 now! She is so funny. She looks rather like a very intoxicated little human as she still takes her fair share of tumbles...but its so fun to watch her. She is a climber...don't know how I ended up with 3 of those, but I did. She's fearless, just like her siblings as well.
She is still the best baby on the planet. And she's SO SO SO very smart. She is talking tons now and will repeat (or try to) just about any single word you throw her way. My favorite is "yellow" it sounds like "ellow" but it's so cute what she does with her tongue! I just can't get enough of her sweet voice.
She's getting so big. She actually has a little bit of a belly right now that hangs over her little diaper and its just too funny watching that little drunken beer belly baby walking and talking all over our house!

Oh Jax!
Jackson is just hilarious. He constantly is making me laugh and I never find the time or paper to write it all down. Two nights ago at dinner he was explaining to Creighton about boobs. I know this is quite the "personal" topic, but I had to recapture as much as I can remember because it's just too funny that this kid is so aware.
He pulled up his shirt (for who knows what reason). I am assuming that made him think about his chest.
J to C: did you know girls and boys both have boobs?
C: [pulls up her shirt to show him that yes she agrees]
J: when you are little girls boobs are little like boys, but when you (Creighton) get bigger your boobs will get fatter and bigger and then you become a woman.
Jeff and I are just looking at each other trying not to spray our food everywhere! It was a riot. I didn't like it that he was calling them boobs, because we try to keep everything anatomically correct around here, but it was just so funny hearing him explain "becomming a woman" to Creighton. Where did he hear this explained? I asked him, don't worry. He said no one explained it, he "just knows this kind of stuff." I was really dying laughing inside and trying so hard to hide it.
Totally random. One of *ville's songs says I've got a friend named Tony with a plan in his pocket... After listening to these lyrics, he says, "Dad, that's just silly" Jeff: what Jackson: you don't keep a plan in your pocket, you keep it in your mind! Why does he "get" that? He's just a super smart little guy.
Another Jackson thing: EVERYtime I tell him he cannot do something/have something etc. he will immediately ask: "So when I am a Daddy can I get [this] for my kids" To which I reply SURE! But it's just really funny that that is a sufficient answer for him and he's usually totally okay with my "no".
He is my fashion conscious kid, unlike Creighton, and he certainly didn't get it from me. The day we got home from being gone for so long warranted a trip to Walmart because we were out of everything. I went in my "clown pants" and a sweat shirt. (clown pants are blue cotton baggy pants with polka dots in all colors all over...not very classy looking I know). Anyway, I was exhausted and I really don't ever care too much about my appearance, especially at Walmart, but when I got home he said, "Mom WHY did you go to Walmart in your pajamas?" I said I was too tired to put on clothes...He said something else I can't remember now, but it was funny and just reminded me that he does have a fashion sense...I missed it somewhere along the line. (and I am okay with it, too just for the record)
He has a loose tooth and I am NOT okay with that. That means he is getting big and he'll have a hole in his sweet smile. I didn't lose my first tooth till 2nd grade when I was 7! He's only 5. It's barely wiggly but it is wiggly nonetheless. I hope it's a far off time before I have to have a toothless little boy!
I just really can't get enough of him. Having him in school is so fun for him and he is doing well! It gives him some good lessons in life that he brings home and we can talk about, he is learning so much information on a daily basis....such a sponge! And it gives me good time with the girls and good time for him to not be tempted to want more screen time! That boy LOVES him some videos, movies, tv, itouch, netflix, wii, computer, and anything animated in any way that comes on a screen. I really don't love it....It's so funny how different each of the three kids are.
He is one compassionate little kid already and I am excited to see that blossom as he truly begins to know Christ more and more and begins to walk in His ways. :) I love you Jackson!

Thanksgiving
We have a million plus reasons to be thankful every year and this year is no different. We are blessed beyond measure by our Infinite, Powerful, Almighty God. I am so humbled by His grace and provision. I can't wait to reflect on this coming year next Thanksgiving :)
We spent Thanksgiving in Enid, OK this year with Jeff's side of the family. It was a great time and I ate too much from the first night we were there till we left. LITERALLY. It was ridiculousness! We got to see extended family on both his mom and dad's and stepparents' sides so that was fun. It was the first time many of them had met Charleigh so that's always neat.
Thanksgiving day we had a late lunch in the cleanest garage around :) GP and Ma have an immaculately clean house including their garage. So we set up for 20 plus 3 tables full of food and we all chowed down. I took the big kids to see Tangled shortly after the food hit our bellies and LOVED it! It was in 3D (*which I don't prefer) but it was great! The kids were perfect in every way and it was a nice get away with them so the adults could visit and ohh and ahh over Charleigh :)
They had a Light Up the Square (or something like that) event that we went to on Friday night and it was a good time. It was pretty and we were there just long enough. The free hot chocolate was grand! The kids convinced their Grammy to get them cheap plastic light up toys that they love ;) Afterwards we walked over to a yummy Italian restaurant where I again ate way too much and suffered greatly the rest of the night. We went bowling party of 11. It was a pretty good time, however, I had bragged about beating everyone the last time with a 166 and this time my wrist hurt so bad I couldn't bowl at.all. Serves me right I didn't even break 100. Oh well. Creighton actually did AMAZING! It was so fun to watch her.

Charleigh rode on my back for a little bit. It was our first ever public attempt with the MOBY on my back. Jeff said she smiled the whole time, but I don't like it as much as having her safer in my arms!~
Saturday we went to Jeff's dads and had a 25th Anniversary celebration for them! It was quite fun and I had ENTIRELY too many of everything (all appetizer/tailgating food). Everyone there was decked out in game (OSU) gear with the exception of the 5 of us. I guess we missed that one. Anyway, we left mid afternoon to head back and stayed at my parents house in Owasso. Wrapped up a great break~however, I do LOVE being home and it was so nice once we were able to get all the way back up to the ville!

Jesse Tree
For the past few years I have read about others doing a Jesse Tree during this time of year. I have had really good intentions, but have NEVER even started. UNTIL THIS YEAR! :)
A friend of mine on facebook led me to a website that I could just print it all off right then and there and so I did. First step was the hardest :)
It was suppose to start Sunday, but I didn't get the message till Monday, so while Daddy was working hard (and late) the kids and I did the first two days on Monday and then tonight Daddy was able to join us in doing Noah's Ark Ornament. I am really liking it. I had to tweak it a bit as far as the scripture reading in order to capture their attention better. I think they are liking it. I am not sure they quite grasp it at all just yet, but we are making improvements and it's a fun new family tradition for us that actually gets the meaning of this season and not all the commercialism of it!
http://www.eriercd.org/jessetree.htm
It's not too late for you to start if you want, there is the address to the one we are doing this year. I printed the small ornaments off and they are still big. I made a green tree out of construction paper and they are taking turns gluing them on each night.
Fun fun! And it's fun for me to get to do it for the first time....:)

Charleigh Update
Charleigh is changing in so many ways and all too fast for me!
She is already saying things and even putting two words together! She is so fun to listen to. She (like her sister) loves to babble and talk all day. So a majority of the time I have no idea what she is saying, but she sure does. She just likes to hear herself....she's got lots of "air time" competition with Creighton around, so she is learning now, how to make herself heard, thus, is no longer my mild vocal level, but extra loud :)
She says the following words:
Hi
Mama
Dada
Sis
Tay (Taylor, her other brother)
Baba (bottle)
Uh-oh
biap (diaper)
moo (for cow)
ruf (for dog)
This list is exponentially longer than Jackson's was at 2! It's so crazy that she is already communicating somewhat clearly. The only sign language I taught her was "all finished" and it's pretty darn cute when she is finished! :)
She weighed 20 pounds 13 ounces at her 1 year baby visit and was 31 inches long. She is like 90% in height.
She is starting to walk more and is getting stronger and more confident everyday. Its so cute to watch her. She just seems SOOOO little to be walking, even though she is my oldest walker by months from her siblings. She's just adorable and still takes lots of spills, thank goodness for a padded bum!
I love you Charleigh Tatum Berg.

Letter to Charleigh at 1
Charleigh Tatum,
I am not really sure why your letter is so difficult to write. I don't think I expected a year to go by this fast. You are ONE. A whole year old. It's crazy to me. I feel like just yesterday we got the world's greatest phone call and then bam, you're a year old! I can't begin to explain what a blessing you have been in our lives. You were meant to be, from the beginning of time, a part of us, my daughter, my friend. And in that plan, it also included extra family members for all of us. Adoption has brought so many fresh reminders of our relationship with Christ and how it truly is. I love you more than I can really comprehend. And so do so many others in your world. I love how you can seriously light up the darkest room, the darkest moments, with your smile, your eyes. Your personality just radiates from within you. I know you were held in the Father's hands for quite some time before He was ready to grace us with your presence. You reflect his glory, that's how I know. You were made in His image Charleigh and you are beautiful. You are a masterpiece. You are priceless. You are our princess and His.
You are beginning to understand more of your world and the things around you and it's SO exciting to see you explore and get to see you comprehend and experience things for the first time. I am so enjoying you and your babyhood that is quickly passing by. I want it all to just slow down. I love my cuddle time with you, I love your sweet kisses, your tender voice, your squeals, your laughter, your soft skin. I love the look in your eyes when you see me. It makes my day. Everyday. I am so privileged to be chosen to be your mommy by God and by your birth mom. I thank Him everyday for giving us to you as your family. We are so blessed by you. We couldn't possibly love you more on this side of heaven. I can't wait to see what the next years hold for you and how you form into a beautiful child of God instead of just a baby.
You amaze me little bit. I love you,
Mommy

Creighton Teal turns 4!!!
Creighton Teal
born November 3
7 lbs 6 oz
21inches
You came out smiling and laughing and having a good ole time! :)
One of my favorites of you near your first birthday
Happy 1st Birthday
Getting bigger and more ornery by the minute
You really loved *and still do* dressing up and you ALWAYS put your sunglasses on upside down. Everytime. All the time. Pricelessly adorable
I just adore this picture of you. You have a kitchen towel wrapped around your head, but I just LOVE it...and I love you!
Couldn't believe how big you were getting and how old you looked the day I took this picture.
Happy 3rd Birthday sweet girl
You are always full of energy and life!
Miss Fashionista. Wanting to set trends by wearing your hair "curly" everyday. Love that sweet smile. It looks good on you
Queen of your world. Princess in mine :) Happy 4th Birthday baby girl
This was the last picture taken of you late last night as you slept as a 3 year old for the last time. You turned 4 officially only about 30 minutes later. The flash bothered you momentarily while you slept but it didn't wake you up. You wanted to go to Eggbert's for breakfast this morning and so we all went together as a family! It was fun. You got pancakes and chocolate milk and we sang you happy birthday! You wanted to wear your "4" shirt today and you wanted "curly" hair on your birthday for school, so that's why you were sleeping in braids up above. You looked just like Creighton...confident, beautiful, mix-matched and crazy hair :) I love you sweet girl!
Letter to my Four Year Old...
Creighton Teal,
I can't believe you are 4 as of an hour ago. As I was going through all of the pictures just now putting together a montage of your life thus far, it hit me, just HOW MUCH I love you. I love you. I love you for who you are, who you aren't, who you will become (no matter what that is). You are designed by the Maker of Heaven and Earth to be exactly the way you are. You are so incredibly gifted, talented, beautiful beyond description, amazingly passionate (especially for only 4), loving, competitive, driven, and although I don't always enjoy it, strong-willed. I love your determination and your tenacity! You will not let life (or anyone else) get the best of you, because you are determined to get the best of it! Daddy and I are trying so hard to guide you, train you up, love you the very best that we can so that you can be ALL that God has created you to be. He didn't short-change you baby, you have it all, and you can be and do anything ANY.THING. you want to do. I love you sweetheart. I hope you have the very best birthday today and that this year will be one more for the memory books of all your looks, your attitude, your giggles, laughter and smiles! You amaze me at all you have become, all you are, all you know, and how you desire to be and know more with every passing day. Continue to press on and ask questions (even when it is 400/mile in the car) about life. Explore. Gain wisdom and knowledge. Daddy and I will always be here for you every step of the way. You were never made to be "normal"...take your wings and soar.
Love,
Mommy

Update
Our computer has been at the doctor. (yes, the Mac that Jeff insisted we get because our PC's were only making it a year or two only lasted less than 2 months....at least they are transferring ALL information and replacing it with a brand new one for nothing more than inconvenience)
Anyway. It's been frustrating because I couldn't blog because the laptop we are using in the mean time (not an iMac) wouldn't let me go to my blog page, but tonight I figured out a way around it. I still can't get to my blog but I came straight to a new post from blogger direct and it is lettting me (so far) stay here.
So much has happend. So many important milestones in our life! Most of them are documented in pictures and as soon as we get the new computer up and running again, I'll be sure to post several new ones.
Just wanted to touch base and write some things I wanted to post about:
Charleigh turned 1! (and I cannot possibly believe it)
Charleigh got a new tooth (and it is SO crooked already! ): ahhhhh)
Charleigh is starting to walk (and it's SOOOOOOO cute. )
Birthday Party
Field Trip/Bus Ride
Breakfast at school
Creighton is turning 4!
Charleigh is a biter! (and it hurts really bad)

Creighton and Football!
Creighton has gone to stay with all of the grandparents at one time or another, whether it be with her siblings or alone. However, within the last few months, she's developed this deep desire to be best buds with Grandma Debbie. She has gone now 2 or 3 different times for long stays (several days at a time) by herself. This past one was her longest at 5 days. It was WAY too long for me, but she seemed just fine!
Anyway, I am thinking you can tell she's spent quite a bit of time with Grandma Debbie, when you hear the following come out of her 3 year old self:
C: Do you know who the best football player is?
M: No, who?
C: Daddy is the best!
M: Oh, yes he is! (thinking that was sweet....and that'd be the end of the very random conversation*)
C: But do you know who the next best football player is?
M: No?
C: Brett Farve!
Seriously, his name has never been spoken in our home. We don't watch football really ever, but if it is on, it's Dallas. And as far as talking about football, the game, or the players, it just doesn't happen...at least when i am around.
So...she's officially been brainwashed! Thanks Debbie! :)
Now, it makes more sense that last time after she came home, I tried to get her to wear her brother's old Cowboys (Dallas) jersey and she said, "No, I want a purple one!" What have you done? :)

Spook-a-rama
Jeff's parents came into town today to go with us to Spook-a-rama at the Kiddie Park. It's completely crazy that we go, but every year, even with the crowds, the kids have a blast...and so do I. Jeff decided to dress up as the fat Scot. These first three pics are the kids' reactions to seeing him.
Charleigh really didn't have a clue what was going on. But she actually went to Jeff dressed up and I didn't think she would.
My little beautiful princess is growing up way too fast. I just can't get over how stunning she looked in this dress tonight.
She was all smiles!
Poor Charleigh. Here's Jeff!
My crew! I wasn't up to dressing up tonight. Party pooper me. Oh well :)
Beauty....
...and the Beast!
Last year we all went as Batman. This was just a mere six days before Charleigh was brought into this world. Oh my, so much has changed in just a year! :) I just checked my blog history and apparently I never posted about Spookarama last year. It seemed I must not have gotten to it before our life got turned upside down *for the better. So here it is. One of our last pics as a family of 4.

Bikes, Life, and Mountains
The other day we all went for a bike ride downtown to the artfest at the Price Tower. It wasn't a bad ride at all going. I had a little energy (which was nice since I'd been sick for the previous 10 days) and it was gorgeous weather outside.
We had a decent time at the artfest and the kids were able to see and do neat things! Jackson's artwork was displayed from school and that was fun to see and get pictures. Side note: he was in a TERRIBLE mood that morning or I think artfest would have been amazing. :/
Anyway, on the way home, *on the way there was primarily downhill* it was primarily uphill the whole way. Several factors played into why it was even harder than normal. We chose a bad path, Jackson was on the tag along behind me, I was weaker than normal because of my sickness, and I am out of shape.
Anyway, I had analogies popping into my head right and left and I thought I might attempt to make them make sense outside of my head. Wish me luck...this endeavor is not always successful.
Jeff was up ahead of me because I was fatiguing quite quickly. The nice thing about that is you get to watch and learn from their mistakes. #1 It is such a great asset to have people in your life who have already walked the journey you are on, so that you can watch the way they live life, and learn from them, both in good and bad situations.
In watching Jeff struggle up the hills, (there were SOOOO many) *he had BOTH girls in a buggy and was probably much harder than me just pulling Jackson (who could also help peddle)* I realized #2 that if I worked hard before I got to the hill then I wouldn't struggle UP the hill. It didn't make the hill any less of a hill, but I was prepared and ready for it when I came to it. I think marriages have been on my mind lately as we are in the middle of counseling several couples in difficult situations and fighting for their marriages. So I just began thinking along those lines. The hills and very big mountains WILL come in your marriage. The key to making it up and over these hills and mountains is to be prepared AHEAD of time. You can see them coming if you are paying attention. The hill is not the problem, it's how you plan to get up it. At times Jeff would seem to come to a complete stop in the middle of the hill, because he physically couldn't pedal anymore. He was stuck literally trying to keep balanced and keep moving...and that's not an easy task! My philosophy of working hard before you get there paid off. I pedaled as fast as I could beforehand and gained speed, so when I got to the hill, although it was still tough, I made it up just fine (only very slightly out of breath)!
There were other times when the hill got so steep, we had to get off our bikes and walk up because it was seemingly impossible to make it up the way we had planned. #3 No matter how much you plan ahead, there will be mountains that just take time, extra effort, and thinking outside the box. But more than all that, it took prayer and determination. I wanted to give up. I wanted nothing more than to sit on the side of the road and wait for someone to come pick me up. I could.not.go.any.further. But yet, somewhere within me, I found strength to push more. I walked a lot. It was humbling as people were driving by (very fast I might add) and watching me walking a bike with a boy on the back of it. I felt like a "loser," but in reality, I didn't give up and so I didn't lose. Sometimes humbling yourself (I am SO prideful by nature) is the very best thing. It isn't always best to act like you have it all together, especially when you don't! Don't be afraid to let others see your weakness. It can be very powerful.
#4 This is kind of a random thought, but here goes anyway. Jeff and I both were carrying a lot of "baggage" with us behind our bikes. Our "baggage" happened to be our greatest blessings, but for the purpose of this analogy, I have to call them baggage. Had Jeff and I been riding alone on our bikes, just the two of us on two bikes with no kids, I KNOW it wouldn't have been nearly as difficult to go up those hills. Having the baggage is like gravity pulling you backwards, begging you to stop, physically not allowing you to move forward. Baggage in life and baggage in marriage is so difficult. A lot of times this baggage can be lightened if not completely eliminated by making positive choices ahead of time. Like staying pure in mind, heart and body, both before and after marriage. Spiritually, by reading the word, praying, applying it to your life. Physically, by eating healthy and working out to keep your body in shape. All these things add up and create really heavy baggage to carry around when poor choices are made. However, some things in life, happen to us, whether we make good choices or not. But not allowing that baggage to just fester and create heavier baggage, is a way in which we can lighten the load. Seek counseling. Getting through your issues and talking them out with a professional is such a positive step for you to lighten your load. (I love my babies and they are not baggage...but blessings, just to reiterate again) :)
We eventually made it home, not without many complaints, both silent and verbal, from me. I could barely make it in to the house fast enough before getting sick, and afterwards I was beat and fell asleep as if I were dead. But I had worked very hard and it felt good to rest. It had done me in for sure.
I think not only can these analogies apply to marriages, but really to all aspects of life. God tells us there will be trials in life. In order for our faith to mature and be complete, trials will come. I didn't pass the having "joy" IN my trial this time, but I can tell you that I did learn so much in hindsight...just as is promised. I love when God speaks in the day-to-day activities of life. He is so good to me. I am very blessed. I am still learning.
